How to verify a contractor licence in Alabama

Every contractor in this directory holds a licence issued by the Alabama Licensing Board for General Contractors. Type a company name above to confirm it is licensed, find its licence number, and view the trades that licence actually covers.

Alabama requires a licence for most commercial work and for residential projects above a dollar threshold. Checking before you sign matters: an unlicensed contractor can leave you without recourse if the work is defective, and your insurer may decline a claim on unpermitted work.

Two things worth reading on any listing. The bonded bid limit is the maximum value of work a contractor is bonded to take on — a firm bonded to $100,000 cannot legitimately bid a $2 million job. The expiry date matters more than a status badge: this directory is a periodically refreshed copy of the state register, not a live feed.

For a fuller explanation of licence classes, bid limits, and which board issues which licence, see our guide to Alabama contractor licences.

If you can't find someone here, they may be licensed by a different Alabama board — home builders, electrical, plumbing and HVAC are licensed separately — or not licensed at all.
