Directory data. The core directory is built from publicly available Alabama contractor licensing records (such as name, city, license number, and firm affiliation). This information is public record and is not collected from you.
Information you provide. If you submit a listing upgrade, a Contractor matching request, or contact us, we collect what you send us — such as your name, email address, phone number, license number, company, website, bio, details about the work you need, and any other information you choose to include.
Usage data. Like most websites, we automatically collect standard analytics data (pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site) through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve the directory;
- Process and fulfill listing upgrades;
- Respond to your messages and requests;
- Understand how the Site is used so we can make it better;
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues or abuse.
Contractor matching requests
If you ask us to match you with a contractor, we share the information you submit with the contractor(s) we match you with so they can evaluate your request and contact you. By submitting a matching request, you consent to that sharing and contact. We may receive compensation from contractors in connection with matches. We do not otherwise sell your personal information.
Third-party services we use
We rely on trusted third-party providers to run the Site. Each processes data on our behalf under its own privacy policy:
- Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
- Google Firebase (Firestore) — database that stores directory data and listing-upgrade submissions.
- Stripe — payment processing for listing upgrades. We never see or store your full card details; Stripe handles payment information directly.
- Google Analytics — website usage analytics.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (used to notify us of submissions and to reply to you).
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics to understand site usage. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; the Site will still function without them.
Your choices and rights
You may request that we access, correct, or delete the personal information you've provided, or ask that your listing be removed, through our contact form. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA.
Data retention & security
We keep the information you provide for as long as needed to operate the directory and fulfill upgrades, and we take reasonable measures to protect it. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
